Appraisals & PDP

We believe it’s important that our people have the time and space to explore opportunities for learning and development to help career progression, whether they’re happy in their current role or looking to take that next step.

This is facilitated through our appraisal process, which can be highly beneficial and motivating for both employee and manager when done effectively:

R

Provide and receive quality feedback

R

Understand current performance levels and capability

R

Set suitable SMART objectives that give focus and direction

R

Identify areas for improvement

R

Create a Personal Development Plan

R

Assist with general career progression in current or future roles

We encourage a continuous interaction with our people throughout the year so that their development needs are being reviewed as situations and circumstances evolve, rather than just once a year.

There are three key elements to the appraisal that require equal focus. These are the Performance Review, Objective Setting and Personal Development Plan (PDP)

We make available a number of resources to help with each stage of the process, including:

R

SMART Goal-Setting Toolkit

R

Personal Development Planning Toolkit

R

Personal Development Plan Template

R

Appraisal Checklist

R

Manager guidance booklet

We also run guidance webinars for all employees and provide managers with Appraisal Skills training that is available to book through our Learning Management System (iLearn).

Current employees can find all of our resources, forms and further guidance on our Intranet site (Insite) under Learning and Development.
